AtNetPlus Employees Team Up for the Akron Marathon

The recent Akron Marathon was a busy place for many AtNetPlus employees and their families. Almost half of the company dedicated a few hours of their Saturday morning either handing out GU to the participants or running the race.

Service Manager David Kaiser, Administrative Assistant Angela Provencal, IT Specialist Matt Micciche and Partners Jay Mellon and Jim Laber ran in the relay. The team finished the marathon in just over 4 hours 24 minutes placing 537th in the Mixed Relay category. Account Manager Rochelle Schenk and IT Specialist Damian Huising ran the half marathon individually.

“We have been training for months,” stated AtNetPlus Partner Jay Mellon. “Every Wednesday, at 5 o’clock, the team would get together and run a few miles. Everyone pulled together on race day to support each other. It was great to have employees that weren’t racing participate as volunteers and encourage the team.” “We’re hoping we can make this an annual event and get even more employees involved next year,” concluded Mellon.

AtNetPlus team members Ellen Kurr, Susan Hudik, Dave Bullard and Julie Siller along with several family members and friends handed out GU to the runners along Sand Run Parkway. “We were in a good location,” noted Siller. “When the runners reached our station they were more than half way through the course. It was fun to cheer them on and to see the variety of people taking on the challenge of a marathon. It was also nice to get to know the friends and family of my co-workers a little better.” Siller added, “Overall it was a great experience.”
